Pit Bulls Rescued
Some pit bulls from rural Parker were taken away from their owner Monday for possible mistreatment.
The Turner County Sheriff ordered the dogs be removed from a home outside of Parker April 24th. Second Chance Rescue Center assisted by going in and rescuing 9 pit bulls (7 adults and 2 puppies). Officials with the Center say the dogs are in fairly good condition. They have good body weight but are dirty and have some ticks. Often times pit bulls are bred for fighting and although officials can't say for sure that's the case here, they say there are signs pointing in that direction.
"There was one that had some scars on his face and it looked like maybe it had been fought," says Becky Johnson from Second Chance Rescue Center. She says most of the dogs are friendly, one is extremely scared and two are pretty aggressive.
The dogs will stay in the care of Second Chance Rescue until they hear from the Turner County Sheriff. Charges could be pending.
If you want to help, the center could use a hand cleaning the dogs, they need dog food and some leashes.
