Title: Stop PetSmart Stores from Breed Discriminating
Posted on: November 20, 2006
Deadline: Ongoing...
Website: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/911904877
Description: Not allowing 'bully breed' dogs in their doggie day camps is the in
store equivalent of breed specific legislation. This is unacceptable
from a company that portrays an image of being animal friendly. They
will allow these same breeds to be adopted from in front of their
stores, but they won't allow them to enroll in daycamp the next day.
This is a true injustice. I ask that along with signing this petition,
you make a pledge to yourself and your dog to find alternate places to
buy your pets' supplies if at all possible. *THIS IS NOT ABOUT GETTING PIT BULLS INTO
PETSMART'S DOGGIE DAYCAMP PROGRAM: It's about disallowing PetSmart to
reinforce unjust and unwarranted negative stereotypes that their
unknowing consumers may believe. It's about having PetSmart not making
the fight for Bully Breed rescuers and Breed Specific Legislation
fighters any harder than it already is. (Read

Title: Protect Property Rights in Animals
Posted on: January 04, 2005
Deadline: Ongoing...
Website: http://www.petitiononline.com/usanimal/petition.html
Description: We the people of the United States hereby petition Congress to cause to have
drafted, and to enact a Bill for federal legislation, that when enacted will
protect ownership property rights, and legal use rights in domestic animals, and
ensure that no city, county, or State authority shall prohibit, or restrict the
peoples ownership rights, or legal use rights in domestic animals by specific
breed, or by species. Animals are humankinds most ancient, and traditional
property. The animal industry is the cornerstone of the economy of the United
States, and must be preserved. It is not the intent of the petitioners to
restrict any local authority in addressing the zoning for, or of the keeping of
animals. (Read

Title: Save Our Dogs From Legislated Extinction in Iowa
Posted on: January 04, 2005
Deadline: Ongoing...
Website: http://www.petitiononline.com/ammitnme/petition.html
Description: We the undersigned Iowa Constituents hereby petition the Iowa State Legislature
to draft a Bill amending SEC. 38A Added 1968, Amendment [25] and SEC. 39A. Added
1978, Amendment [37] which would prevent city and county governments in Iowa
from passing breed specific dog ordinances. We ask the Legislature to protect
the constitutional property rights of the citizenry. Breed specific dog
ordinances restrict, or prohibit property rights in dogs by breed without
providing public protection from all dog breeds, thus denying equal protection,
and equal treatment under the law. Individual dog owners should be regulated,
not whole groups of citizens who own certain breeds. Home Rule cannot be allowed
to take precedence over constitutional property rights. (Read

Title: Help Stop the Pit Bull Breed Ban
Posted on: January 04, 2005
Deadline: Ongoing...
Website: http://www.petitiononline.com/newban2/petition.html
Description: Aggressive dogs are found among any breed or crossbreed; and Breed
specific legislation and breed bans are not effective solutions to the problem
of dog attacks; and The problem of dog attacks is best dealt with
through a comprehensive program of education, training and legislation
encouraging responsible ownership of all breeds; WE the undersigned
petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to refrain from enacting provincial
animal control legislation that is breed-specific, and instead implement a
comprehensive bite prevention strategy that encourages responsible ownership of
all breeds. Any information provided is not protected under The Toronto
Humane Societys Privacy Policy as the petition is hosted by an external service

Title: Ban the Deed Not the Breed!
Posted on: December 23, 2005
Deadline: Ongoing...
Website: http://www.petitiononline.com/1h2o3t4m/petition.html
Description: We the undersigned believe that Breed Bans and or Breed Specific Legislation are
a short term, short-sighted attempt to deal with the issues surrounding canine
related injuries. Statistics on dog bites and dog related injuries
simply do not support the assertion that one breed has a predisposition to be
more aggressive versus another. In Canada there are no laws making it mandatory
to report dog bites. The Canadian Safety Council acknowledges that breed bans
and or breed specific legislation do not address the real problem which is
irresponsible dog owners. NO form of legislation will not stop dogs from biting,
but enforcing responsible dog ownership will dramatically lower bite
incidences. ALL dogs can and will bite under given circumstances. (Read

Deadline: Ongoing...
Website: http://www.petitiononline.com/Roxi/petition.html
Description: We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens of the City of
Bloomington, as well as concerned citizens of the United States. While
recognizing the concerns of Bloomington residents, we are opposed to any breed
specific ordinances. Specifically regarding the pit bull ordinance soon to be
proposed by City Attorney Greenburg, which would have a negative impact on
responsible, law-abiding dog owners and future owners. This ordinance would have
an impact on not only Bloomington citizens, but also those who choose to visit
Bloomington to show their dogs in legal events, to do business in the community,
or to visit family and friends, or even for Veterinary appointments or
emergencies. Following are listed our specific concerns. (Read

Title: Stop Illinois House Bill 4213
Posted on: December 19, 2005
Deadline: Ongoing...
Website: http://new.petitiononline.com/ILHB4213/petition.html
Description: IL Reps. Shane Cultra and Mark Beaubien, Jr. have just proposed an amendment to
the Animal Control Act which will allow breed-specific legislation state-wide in
Illinois. This means that any municipality within the state of Illinois will be
able to legally pass breed-specific legislation banning any breed of dog they so
choose. Such breed bans have been ruled unconstitutional in other states due to
infringement of citizens' 14th amendment Due Process rights. Worse still is that
American Pit Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, "pit bulls," "pit
bull terriers," Rottweilers, and Staffordshire Terriers are already defined in
this bill as "vicious" breeds of dog, which will result in severe and unfair
restrictions for these breeds. (Read

Title: Chicagoans Against Rugai's 2005 BSL
Posted on: December 19, 2005
Deadline: Ongoing...
Website: http://new.petitiononline.com/R3825968/petition.html
Description: Undeterred by the shoot down of her illegal and Nazi-like attempt to
confiscate and euthanize thousands of Chicagoan's dogs via her 2003 proposed
breed ban, Virginia Rugai, Ald. of the 19th ward in Chicago, decided to try the
back-door approach. Rugai assembled a team of lawyers whom she tasked with
skirting the U.S. Constitution (finding a way around citizens' 14th amendment
states rights for Due Process) and as a result of that effort has now
proposed what Im sure she believes is a concession to her earlier breed ban
(or at least one we'll roll over for). The current proposal allows those who
currently own American Pit Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, and
Staffordshire Bull Terriers to be grandfathered in, though no other bully
breeds will be allowed to be purchased or acquired in the city of Chicago. The
proposal also prohibits the breeding of APBTs, AmStaffs, and Staffies, which
amounts to the eventual eradication of the breeds entirely within Chicago. (Read

Title: Recall Virginia Rugai
Posted on: December 19, 2005
Deadline: Ongoing...
Website: http://new.petitiononline.com/R3272478/petition.html
Description: We the undersigned, wearied of 19th ward Alderman Virginia Rugai's attempts to
take away Chicagoans' American Pit Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire
Terriers, and Staffordshire Bull Terriers based upon faulty research and flawed
logic, propose that she be removed from Chicago City Council via a formal
recall. Her illegal attempt to take Chicagoans dogs away, which was a violation
of Chicagoans' 14th amendment rights to Due Process, shows her contempt for the
citizens of Chicago and the American Constitution. Faced with the knowledge that
her 2003 proposed breed ban was highly illegal and unethical, Rugai took a
back-door approach and has now proposed what in effect amounts to the
eradication of bully breeds via a prohibition on their breeding. This is a
direct mimic of California Senate bill SB861, which also prohibited bully
breeding. Much like the California bill, Rugai's proposal is broad and
open-ended allowing for the city of Chicago to decide which dogs and which dog
breeds are vicious. As such, the Chicago City Council will not stop at bully
breeds. Rottweilers and German Shepherds are probably next. Breed-specific
legislation, in whatever form it comes, has been statistically proven not to
work. (Read

Title: Save The Pit Bulls in Denver!

Website: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/507901196?ltl=1135045864
Description: On Monday, May 9, 2005, the Denver Division of Animal Control began enforcing a
city-wide ban on owning pit bull terriers, and initiated an aggressive campaign
of seizing beloved family pets, and killing them against their owners will.
This ordinance is an indiscriminant ban that demands the eradication and
disposal of ALL dogs that are classified as pit bulls or pit bull mixes, even if
the dog has never done anything wrong, and consistently remains confined to the
owners property. Dog owners who refuse to surrender their pets face up to a
year in jail and a $999 fine. (Read

Title: Protest the Seizure and Execution of Innocent Family Pets in Denver, CO
Posted on: December 19, 2005
Deadline: Ongoing...
Website: http://www.petitiononline.com/savepits/petition.html
Description: On Monday, May 9, 2005, the Denver Division of Animal Control began enforcing a
city-wide ban on owning pit bull terriers, and initiated an aggressive campaign
of seizing beloved family pets, and killing them against their owners will.
This ordinance is an indiscriminant ban that demands the eradication and

the dog has never done anything wrong, and consistently remains confined to the
owners property. Dog owners who refuse to surrender their pets face up to a
year in jail and a $999 fine. This ordinance also bans shelters and
humane societies from harboring pit bulls, and even goes so far as to forbid
any US resident from transporting a pit bull through Denver without a permit.
The ordinance does allow for pits to be kept if residents meet certain
requirements; such as increased annual registration fees, maintaining a $100,000
liability insurance policy, and keeping the dog muzzled and leashed at all times
when it is off the owners propertybut only if the resident registered the dog
prior to January 1, 1990. Dogs born or transferred to Denver after that date do
not qualify for the exemption. In the first few years there were several
legal battles regarding the ban. However, in November of 1991, the Colorado
Supreme Court upheld the ban when it declared that the Denver ordinance did not
violate the state constitution. (Read
